1903-1991
November 7 Columbus Grove, Ohio-February 5 Santa Monica CA.
There seems to be some confusion as to his birth name and not his place of birth. The name is easily straightened out: he was born Ira Dean Jagger as his grave site clearly states, not Dean Jeffries Jagger. But whether he was born in Columbus Grove or Lima Ohio is still not known, with most sites states Columbus Grove. He is buried in the small California town Hughson CA at the Lakewood Memorial Park
Hello Semetra,
ReplyDeleteI saw your fine blog site which featured actor Dean Jagger.
With that said, I am Chuck Harter, author of the forthcoming book “Mr. Novak: An Acclaimed Television Series” (Oct 15)
It concerns the classic 60’s dramatic program about life at a High School.
It starred James Franciscus as teacher John Novak with both Dean Jagger then Burgess Meredith as the Principal.
The book’s website is https://mrnovakbook.com/
If you would like, I can email you a wetransfer of the book for a possible review.
FYI I recently spoke to George Feltenstein, Senior VP of Classic Catalog marketing at Warners and he informed me that they WILL be releasing the first season of Mr. Novak (30 episodes) on a DVD set.
Apparently the prints will be struck from the original 35mm camera negatives and will look pristine.
This is great news because this excellent, but forgotten show, will finally get its due as a true classic of television.
FYI If you have any questions or would like to do an interview I am available at 818-319-7949 in Los Angeles.
Thank you for any consideration on this matter.
Best,
Chuck Harter
