Native Stills From Mexico

Posting a couple of Aztec images from Sergei Eisenstein's Que Viva Mexico  (1932) in protest of Dia de la Raza (or Day Of The Races) being "celebrated" today in Mexico....don't let the name fool you, it's really just Mexican Columbus Day!

  1. I had no idea Eisenstein made a Mexico movie. 1932 is late for a silent movie also (right?).

    1. The film was never finished--it it listed as being a "raw footage" film. The project was dreamed up in 1929 and filming started in 1930. It was grand project intended to show the history of Mexico from just before conquest up to the 1910 revolution, which Eisenstein was rather obsessed with as concept of being more Marxist in nature than it really was.
